Our communities of practice

Connecting people in regulation across Aotearoa New Zealand

Join our communities of practice

The Ministry is developing communities of practice for people working in regulation in New Zealand. These communities are designed to help you connect, collaborate, and strengthen your practice — whether you're tackling complex challenges or refining everyday practice.

Join one of our communities of practice to:

  • solve challenges together and co-create better ways of working
  • share your knowledge and experience with others
  • discover new resources and tools
  • build trusted relationships for feedback, peer review, and to develop new ideas.

The communities will be self-directed, shaped by their members, and guided by an independent chair. The chair will:

  • ensure their community has a long-term agenda of topics to explore
  • organise in-person meetings when needed, and ensure they run smoothly
  • help members stay connected and engaged.

Other benefits

Community members will also be able to connect through an online community chat and meet-ups.

The communities will also have options to set up working spaces to collaborate and share resources. We encourage the communities to get to know each other, and to give and receive support as they can.

The communities will address both strategic and operational issues, and may focus on topics like:

  • stewardship
  • regulatory technology
  • operational policy practices
  • capability frameworks.
