About us
The Ministry for Regulation is a small government agency with a big job to do. We’re responsible for helping other government agencies make their rules and regulations easier for New Zealanders to understand and navigate.
Our work
The Ministry for Regulation is the central steward of New Zealand’s Regulatory Management System. We work with other regulators across the public sector to improve the quality of regulation so all New Zealanders can flourish.
Our te reo name
The Ministry for Regulation worked with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori – The Māori Language Commission to develop a te reo Māori name to sit alongside our English name. The name suggested by Te Taura Whiri is Te Manatū Waeture.
Regulatory review into the hairdressing and barbering industry announced
The Ministry’s next regulatory review will be of hairdressing and barbering industry regulations.
Reflections from our summer interns
We asked our interns to reflect on their experiences. Here are some of their perspectives.
Our people
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at the Ministry for Regulation hold a diverse range of skills, knowledge and extensive experience. They play a crucial role in guiding the Ministry as we shape the future of New Zealand’s regulatory landscape.
