A new space for regulatory learning and connection

Today, the Ministry for Regulation officially launched RegRoom, a new online platform designed to support regulatory professionals across the public service.

At a launch event in Wellington, Hon David Seymour, Minister for Regulation, and Ministry Chief Executive Gráinne Moss spoke to an audience of regulatory leaders and practitioners from across government. Both emphasised the importance of building capability, reducing red tape, and supporting consistent, fair, and effective regulation.

RegRoom is the first cross-agency space dedicated to regulatory learning and collaboration. It includes:

  • Regulatory Practice Essentials – ten scenario-based learning modules (six available now, four launching soon)
  • Communities of Practice – coming soon, shared spaces for regulators to connect, problem-solve, and share insights

Gráinne Moss highlighted the Ministry’s leadership role in bringing RegRoom to life:

“Good regulatory practice doesn’t happen by accident – it takes commitment from all of us. RegRoom is a practical way to support that commitment.”

Hon David Seymour reinforced the government’s focus on smarter regulation:

“RegRoom gives all regulators in New Zealand access to online learning modules. These interactive modules endorse principles of good regulation, preventing harm, and protecting people’s rights.”

RegRoom is free to access via Single Sign-On

RegRoom is available to people who work in regulation in New Zealand in organisations who develop and/or administer government regulation.
